How long have you been painting?

I started painting in 2003, when  I became an apprentice for a painter. My boss was  a very important part of my journey as an artist. He taught me everything I know – painting, threadwork etc. - and encouraged me to stay at it. We had a store in Abuja, Jabi market and the experience exposed me on how to run a business selling art for homes and offices. The entire market was later demolished, and I moved to Lagos and opened my own store.
Moving to Lagos has its benefits and I cannot complain. Like every other job, there are difficulties but generally, the market has been good.

Best and worst experience?

My best experience so far has to be when I am making sales, coupled with when I’m making abstract art. The worst experience has to be when sales were slow and I needed money badly. I even started contemplating doing something else entirely.

Your style?

I love creating abstract pieces. They are easy, stress-free and unique. I am my best self when I am making abstract art. I also like painting figures.

What’s your vision for your art?

I would like to see my art travel the entire world. I would like my art to get to places and people that I wouldn’t be able to get to on my own.
