Collection: Christie 'Jibs' Akinsanya

Christie Akinsanya (nee Adekoya), also known as Jibs, earned a BA degree in Fine Art from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, taught fine art at King’s College Lagos and eventually became an officer at the Federal Scholarship Board, Ministry of Education, retiring in 2008. She’s also a Yoruba leader, the Yeye Otunba Olumodan of Ijebu-Land.

Christie travelled the world with her husband, Ambassador Otunba Olusegun Akinsanya, exposing her to different cultures and ways of life, all of which contributed to her knowledge as an artist. She has exhibited her work in cities including Moscow, London, Dakar and Addis Ababa.

Christie’s works also celebrate Nigeria, its women, culture – particularly the Yoruba traditions -her faith and fashion. Her keen interest in children is also reflected in her work, where she tries to capture their innocent and genuine expressions.
