Don Saladin Generis

Don Saladin Generis is an emerging fabric collage artist based in Nigeria, West Africa. Working primarily with non-degradable ankara fabric materials that can harm our ecosystem, every piece from his studio is an effort to a cleaner, greener earth, exploring themes surrounding africanism, feminity and universal emotions. Through the chaos of random beautiful Ankara materials, Generis seeks to express gratitude to Mother Nature, the feminine energy through which creation begins, and bring to the light the feels of Africa in his own way. His work exists where African textile culture, environmental responsibility, and human emotion converge, using the remnants of everyday fabric to create new conversations around beauty, femininity, identity, and the natural world. Inviting viewers to look beyond the individual fragments and discover harmony within the chaos—to experience Africa through texture, color and emotion, while reflecting on the beauty that can emerge when what is discarded is given new life.
