Collection: The Durus
Chinedu Duru is a painter and wood carver whose works are greatly influenced by his personal experiences growing up. His interests pan across religion, culture and human interactions which are depicted in his works.
His paintings are a fusion of vibrant colours and ankara which he combines with acrylic and buttons, sometimes to create abstract portraits that he does in collaboration with his wife, Lolo. Overtime, he developed his style and carved out an identity for himself through his wood works.
Duru’s wood works are greatly inspired by the faces he sees on cracked walls which are greatly interpreted on the different works he produces, ranging from stools, benches, wall art and other objects.
