Collection: Janet Adegoke
Janet Temitope Adegoke is an emerging artist from Western Nigeria and a graduate of Human Anatomy from Bowen University, Nigeria. She first took up art as a hobby at ten and initially considered art to be just a hobby. Janet eventually spent years practicing, and refining her craft until she finally took up art professionally in 2020. She has participated in several exhibitions in Lagos, Nigeria, and has been featured in publications at home and abroad, such as the Aké Review and ShoutOut Miami.
Her paintings are manifestos for empowerment and self-acceptance for women in her part of the world, and by extension, universally. Adegoke presents the female form as broken but whole; walking entities of multiple emotions traceable to culture control.
