Sojourn - A transformative effect of an African woman.

This series focused on a movement that is both celebrated and quietly endured. It reflects the realities of most women who leave everything behind to become a better version of themselves, those who stay against all odds, and those who are caught in between navigating life, kids, career, and shifting their identities to fit into the migration of survival and self discovery in a patriarchal world.

For many whom I've met and come in contact with, migrating in and out is not just crossing borders, it's a deep unspoken weight of starting over, blending with an unfamiliar culture while holding onto the fragment of home, and migrating back into where they used to be for them is not stagnancy, it is a resilience journey, another form of hope that has no limitations.

Across each piece, I portray women as an evolving colony. A living archive of memory, sacrifice, adaptation, and strength. They carry the stories of where they have been, the realities of where they are, and the possibilities of where they hope to go. Through this series, I invite viewers to reflect on the quiet transformations that shape women's lives and to recognize migration not simply as movement, but as an ongoing act of becoming.
